Art Therapy

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates creative methods of expression through visual art media in order to find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills. Art therapy utilizes the creative process to facilitate self-expression and help children, adolescents, and adults explore their emotions, improve  self-esteem , manage addictions, relieve  stress , improve symptoms of  anxiety  and  depression , and cope with a physical illness or disability. No artistic talent is necessary for art therapy, because the therapeutic process is not about the artistic value of the work, but rather about finding associations between the creative choices made and a client's inner life. Art therapy allows you to express your inner world in an integrative way, while identifying skills and goals which enable a sense of movement towards valued directions in your life. Aurelie uses a person centered and multimodal approach to working with clients to meet individual needs whether the client choses to use art or simply talk to share their story. No artistic ability is required, just a willingness to open up to new possibilities.
